The work makes use of environmental resonances and sounds to create music. The compositions are designed to elicit wonder, empathy and connection with the environment. The purpose of the installation, however, is not only to provide a person the experience of belonging but also disconnection within the space in which it’s presented. This series is a collection of moments captured through the veil of rain-smeared glass, where the raindrops take centre stage, rendering the streetscape into an abstract blur. These images explore the transient beauty of precipitation, showcasing raindrops as intricate jewels suspended in mid-air. By intentionally keeping the streetscape out of focus, I aim to elevate the raindrops from mere weather phenomenon to ethereal protagonists in a visual narrative. The glass barrier becomes the filter, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, as rain becomes an art form painting the town in shimmering droplets. The resulting images evoke a sense of intimacy with the rain, inviting the viewer to experience the quiet poetry of a small-town tropical deluge. Each raindrop, a transient gem, refracts the ambient light, creating a symphony of bokeh that transcends the limitations of a typical rainy day. Through this series, I hope to convey the delicate balance between the tangible and the intangible, where the familiar becomes dreamlike, and the commonplace transforms into a canvas of elusive beauty. These photographs celebrate the subtleties of the monsoon season, offering a contemplative space where viewers can lose themselves in the rhythm of raindrops clinging to glass. In 2010, there was a tourism marketing campaign to promote the Daylesford region with the catch phrase “lead a double life”. Tourists will come, spend their money and go again but the people who live here remain. So where do we go for our double life? A visually incongruous sight at first glance perhaps - a burlesque group in Daylesford made up of mothers, teachers, dancers and businesswomen. Well really, why the hell not! The aim of this project is to present not only the performance aspect of the troupe but also the real lives of the participants. The idea is to follow the family life and the rehearsals of the participants in a photo-documentary manner. This will be presented as an exhibition of images but this is not the complete show. At the opening of the exhibition there will also be performances by burlesque group which will be photographed at that time and immediately printed and put up on display to complete the photographic part of the exhibition. There is nothing like the night sky seen from the desert to give the sense of how insignificant we are and, by extension, how pointless our pettiness is. Central to these works is the use of concave windows as reflective surfaces and, by default, another lens. The windows exist in the doors of Pingyao’s ancient wall turrets and they strategically reflect upon the town within, while concurrently magnifying dioramas of ancient life hidden behind the glass. The resulting landscape images are presented, therefore, as portals into a world where past and present coexist, allowing viewers to witness the fusion of ancient charm and modern complexity. The juxtaposition of ancient and modern architecture within the same frame becomes a metaphor for the seamless integration of history and progress. The towering skyscrapers and intricate lattice work of industrial infrastructure find common ground with the enduring beauty of ancient temples and pagodas. Through this intentional blending, I draw attention to the shared elements between seemingly disparate landscapes, emphasizing the universal themes of growth, transformation, and the cyclical nature of existence. "Concurrence" serves as a visual dialogue, a bridge between cultures and eras. It challenges preconceptions about the dichotomy between tradition and progress, inviting viewers to appreciate the beauty that emerges when these elements converge.
